The Tinker Yard is a small, cozy & welcoming play and maker space. We hold one of the largest & most diverse collection of *loose parts in Singapore.

We are inspired by principles of play, development and learning from renowned early years approaches and philosophies. Our playspace is intentionally designed and prepared to offer children beautiful, open-ended materials and experiences full of possibility in an environment that nurtures exploration, discovery, and creativity.

We hold a strong view of children being competent, curious, full of knowledge, potential, and interested in connecting to the world around them.  Our curriculum nurtures life skills essential for success.
  • focus and self control
  • perspective taking
  • communication
  • making connections
  • critical thinking
  • taking on challenges
  • self-directed, engaged learning

We also practise calm, gentle and respectful teaching through our programmes.

*Loose parts are materials that offer unlimited possibilities for open-ended play, exploration, creation, investigation and invention.

We draw inspiration from Nature for the months of March and April 2018.

Play at The Tinker Yard is a mixed aged playgroup that is natural, child-led, unhurried and respectful of needs of children.

Sensory and messy play rocks at The Tinker Yard. We are one of very few playspaces in Singapore that fully embraces messy play.Through sensory and messy play, children will develop important skills: cognitive, communication, social & emotional and motor skills.

Parents have the option to stay or do a drop-off. During the session, play leaders will share their experience & knowledge of play and early childhood education while children explore play invitations set out for them. This is the perfect setting for parents who are keen to practice gentle/respectful discipline and peaceful/playful parenting.

We keep to a small group of no more than 8 unaccompanied children or 3 parent-&-child pairs and 5 unaccompanied children per session.

Trial sessions are available in the form of an orientation session from 12.30pm to 1.00pm followed by a play session from 10am to 12pm or 3pm to 5pm. Both sessions will be held on weekdays. The fee for trial is $60 per child. Please contact us to make advance arrangements for these sessions.

Please take note that we do not do walk-ins. All bookings must be made at least two week-days in advance.

Children love picture books. What better way to introduce them to S.T.E.A.M. activities than through a good book. Connecting books with hands-on activities can help to enhance children's reading and also inspire them to create and explore.

Each unit will start with a reading of selected literature and thinking cap questions followed by a series of S.T.E.A.M. challenges based on the theme.

Children will have easy access to a wide selection of open-ended materials and research materials to support learning and working as a team to explore, investigate and come up with solutions to the challenges.
